# Licensing

Apache 2.0 for Observe, Test, and SDKs; ELv2 for Build, with commercial licensing for hosted offerings.

Datool Observe, Test, and the TypeScript and Python SDKs are open source under
Apache 2.0. The CLI and shared infrastructure also remain Apache 2.0.

Datool Build is source-available under Elastic License 2.0 (ELv2). You may use it
for your own business under that license, including a support bot whose visitors
only chat with the bot. Offering a substantial set of Build's functionality to
third parties as a hosted or managed service requires a separate commercial
agreement. This applies to free as well as paid offerings.

For the exact scope, usage examples, commercial inquiries, and existing-release
rights, read the repository's [licensing guide](https://github.com/vinipace/datool/blob/main/LICENSING.md)
and [license boundary](https://github.com/vinipace/datool/blob/main/LICENSE).
The full texts are [Apache 2.0](https://github.com/vinipace/datool/blob/main/LICENSES/Apache-2.0.txt)
and [ELv2](https://github.com/vinipace/datool/blob/main/LICENSES/Elastic-2.0.txt).

The license documents accompanying your version govern that version. The Build
restriction does not change the Apache license of the SDKs or revoke rights
previously granted for Apache-licensed releases.
